Andrew Shimkus, PsyD
Andrew Shimkus, PsyD (Rockland Office) is a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Anxiety. He received his doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Hartford. Andrew specializes in treating adults struggling with OCD, anxiety, and mood disorders. He recently completed his yearlong doctoral internship at the University at Albany, Counseling and Psychological Services, and previously worked at the Center for Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy, where he gained experience in treating OCD and related disorders. Andrew uses evidence-based treatment approaches most appropriate for each individual, predominantly Multicultural, Cognitive-Behavioral, Exposure and Response Prevention, Acceptance and Commitment, and Interpersonal. He prioritizes the therapeutic relationship and works to provide a collaborative environment and open dialogue most conducive to change.
